Smarter Financial Management Arrives in Business Central this April
Mar 17, 2025
This April, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is enhancing financial management capabilities with two key features designed to streamline processes and improve accuracy: Checking Total Purchase Amounts on Documents and Requiring Intrastat Classifications on Documents. Here’s a closer look at these innovations and how they empower users
Check Total Purchase Amounts on Documents
This feature ensures that all line items in a purchase document are accurately entered and align with external invoices. By verifying the total purchase amounts, it significantly reduces the likelihood of human errors in accounts payable processes, offering businesses peace of mind and improved accuracy.
Previously exclusive to the Netherlands localization, this functionality is now becoming a global standard as part of Microsoft's delocalization efforts. Users can activate the feature via the setup option “Check Doc. Total Amounts.” Once enabled, new fields such as Doc. Amount Incl. VAT and Doc. Amount VAT appear on the Purchase Invoice and Purchase Credit Memo pages. These fields must be completed to post documents successfully. Business Central cross-checks whether the amounts match the total of purchase lines, ensuring consistency and reliability. If the feature is not activated, current workflows remain unaffected.
Require Intrastat Classifications on Documents
This update streamlines Intrastat reporting by introducing mandatory classification fields on sales and purchase documents for EU-based transactions. By reducing the chances of missing critical information, this feature ensures complete and accurate Intrastat reports, saving time and minimizing errors for businesses.
The new setup fields on the Intrastat Report Setup page include:
Transaction Type Mandatory
Transaction Spec. Mandatory
Transport Method Mandatory
Shipment Method Mandatory
Users must fill in these fields for transactions involving sales or purchases between different EU countries. This safeguard prevents documents from being posted without essential classification details, ensuring compliance with Intrastat requirements and reducing the risk of incomplete reporting.
With these updates, Business Central continues to prioritize efficiency, accuracy, and user empowerment. These innovations are designed not only to support businesses in maintaining compliance but also to simplify financial workflows, setting a strong foundation for growth.
